Is it better to make car videos in Canva or CapCut, or use VanillaSky?
A template editor gives you manual control over the edit; VanillaSky makes a video from your listing photos and confirmed facts. VanillaSky costs $5 per car and background, including up to five versions, with portrait or landscape output and delivery time depending on the style and queue.
Side by side
| Canva / CapCut template | VanillaSky | |
|---|---|---|
| Time per car | About an hour, once practised | Depends on queue and concept |
| Cost | Subscription, plus your hour | $5 per car and background, paid after you review your car; up to five versions |
| Motion | Zoom or slide over the still | AI motion from your photos; inspect the finished car for visual errors |
| Numbers on screen | Typed by you | Read from the listing |
| Photo selection | You choose | Chosen and ordered to tell the story: car, power, mileage, option, price |
| Music | Your library, cut by hand | A matching track, cuts on the beat |
| Branding | Set up once per template | Logo, colour and font; dealer details where the style displays them |
| Formats | Re-lay out for each | Portrait 9:16 or landscape 16:9; duration varies by style |
| Control | Total | Style, background, aspect ratio, branding, music and available voice options |
The five-version allowance includes the first video. Changes on the same background use that allowance; failed attempts do not count. A different background costs another $5 and includes its own five versions.
Where the hour goes
Choosing the photos, cropping the dealer frame, placing each photo, setting the zoom, typing the price and mileage, finding a track, moving cuts to the beat, exporting three sizes. None of it is hard. All of it is per car, and it is the tenth car of the week that does not get done.
When the editor wins
- A one-off with a specific idea: a before-and-after, a montage of the whole lot, a seasonal promo.
- Footage you already shot.
- A layout your brand guide dictates to the pixel.
Questions
Can I edit a VanillaSky video afterwards in CapCut?
Yes. You download an MP4 and own it. Trim it, add a caption sticker, put it in a longer edit.
Does a template editor's zoom look bad?
It looks like a slideshow. A Ken Burns zoom does not change the angle on the car; a generated camera move does, within a few degrees, which is what reads as video.
